Mustard Greens BurgerFit Burger

Stephanie Zarling and her mom, Christine, created the Mustard Greens BurgerFit burger for me to try. They actually had no idea I didn’t like mustard greens. I ate it for lunch with an open mind on a salad. It was absolutely delicious, and I couldn’t taste that pungent mustard green taste in it at all! I actually went back for seconds.

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Knife
  • Utensil for mixing
  • Measuring spoons

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet on medium heat with 1 tablespoon cooking fat. Dice 1/2 onion and add to skillet. Sauté until translucent.
  • Rough chop the mustard greens and add to onions with 1/2 teaspoon salt and balsamic vinegar. Cook until greens have cooked down. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • In a large bowl, add the ground meat and remaining 1 teaspoon salt. Gradually incorporate vegetable mixture into the ground meat. Add as much as you can while still being able to form your burgers as normal. (If you end up adding too much vegetable mixture, don’t worry! Just form your burgers and cook in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 degrees).
  • Cook burgers on medium heat on the stove for 3-5 minutes each side or to your preference. Cooking times can vary.
