Emily Newman and Alane Boyd
Emily Newman was born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1981. Emily’s interest in music and art started early at the age of two. She focuses primarily with oils on canvas and uses a combination of brushstrokes and palette knives achieving a textured, abstract expression that is uniquely her own.
Emily, Owner of Emily Newman Fine Art, is always involved in the art communities of where she lives. In 2019, she began working with Cityscape, a non-profit organization to paint “Cream City,” a historical structure in Cookeville, Tennessee. The painting provided the imagery for a fundraiser dedicated to the preservation of that historical landmark. She continues to work with Cityscape to provide more images in regards to the preservation of the historic area of Cookeville, Tennessee. She is currently the host of “The Scene,” a radio show that broadcasts every Sunday morning at 9 o’clock on lite rock 95.9 FM promoting the discovery of artists from the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee.

Alane has kept her 40 lb weight loss off since 2013, and created BurgerFit and Cooking with My Friends as a way to get her family eating better. Her health journey started in 2012 after being diagnosed with high blood pressure and obesity. Now Alane maintains a healthy weight range and has incorporated quick and easy recipes that keep her picky family members eating better!
Owner of Emily Newman Fine Art. She plays piano, guitar, sings, and has a love for photography, but the brush prevailed in the end. She paints a wide variety of subjects such as landscapes, blossoms, birch trees, Appalachian songbirds, and skylines of her favorite cities. Recently she has painted structures in the wilderness such as barns, chapels, and abandoned automobiles. Emily is also the host of "The Scene," a radio show that broadcasts on Lite Rock 95.9 FM every Sunday.
How We Met
I first met Emily at our local Downtown Green Farmers Market. She had a booth set up selling her beautiful oil on canvas paintings. We instantly fell in love with her work! Fletcher was just a baby and we got him a birch painting for his nursery. Ever since then, we have been collectors of Emily’s art – our home, lake house, and office are all decorated with her paintings. Emily exudes so much positivity and love, it’s contagious and we love being around her. She is an incredible person and we love seeing and keeping up with all of the new things she is working on.
