Gluten-Free Black Bean Brownies
Guilt-free, incredibly moist, and delicious dairy-free, gluten-free Black Bean Brownie recipe! While it is a great dessert after a meal, I might have eaten one of these for breakfast when I had to get out of the house quickly (shh!). They are packed with protein and fiber and a ton of other vitamins and nutrients.
If you have kept up with my story, you’ll know that I struggled with my weight my whole life. I had tried so many things, including Weight Watchers. Through that program, I learned valuable tools that eventually helped me to keep my weight off in a way that I could sustain long-term. I remember going to my WW meeting and the lady talking about making a pan of brownies and adding a can of black beans to them to help increase the fiber and bring down the point value. I thought it was crazy but I tried it and, she was right, they were delicious and you couldn’t even tell!
Fast forward many, many years, and I’ve taken that concept to a whole new level. You cannot taste the black beans at all and they give the brownies body to hold together. These are amazing on their own but also the perfect pair to ice cream!
I didn’t add any walnuts or pecans to this recipe but you could certainly stir them in after blending in the food processor and before putting the mixture in the baking dish. You could also add chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate chips to stir in (I’m making a mental note to try that next time)! For this recipe, I wanted to keep it simple. You can always experiment with what you have in your pantry!
These are so easy to make and it only takes a few minutes to throw everything into the food processor. It is a great recipe to have the kids help too. My 5-year-old loved helping make them and taste test them 🙂
So good, no one will know they were made with black beans! – Alane

We just tried this recipe and it is absolutely delicious! My son suggested adding pecans which I thought was a great idea. It’s got enough sweetness to it and incredibly moist.
Hi Nicole. Yes, you can mix in walnuts or pecans after blending in the food processor for a crunch. For extra sweetness, mix in chocolate chips. Enjoy!
