spicy cabbage rice
The perfect hidden substitute for rice

When I adopted more of a Whole30 lifestyle, rice was one of the things that I really limited eating. We often use cauliflower rice in place of rice but cauliflower isn’t the only vegetable out there that can substitute the feeling of eating rice. I’ve found that finely chopped cabbage gives me the same sensation of eating rice and as an added bonus, Fletcher doesn’t realize the difference.

My aunt and uncle started substituting rice with vegetables like this and have lost 25 pounds each! Pretty remarkable what small changes can make in our diets.

If you use green cabbage, it can easily be snuck in a lot of your meals without the person eating even realizing it. You can remove the outer darker greens when making this recipe if you need to hide the fact that you used cabbage. I found that if Fletcher sees something green in his food he, will most likely, pick it out.

I typically fine chop the cabbage with a knife but you could also through it into the food processor for faster chopping and getting it finer. Don’t over food process it though, you don’t want it to be mush.

Adding only a few ingredients and Koops’ Stone Ground Mustard makes this Spicy Cabbage Rice so tasty and versatile! It pairs perfectly with BurgerFit burgers on it it’s own or can be used with our Stir Fry recipe or Tikka Masala recipe. It can also be used as the rice in rice and gravy, Indian sauces, jambalaya, soups, etc.

Wow, this must be a really good recipe. I have tried cabbage sautéed with garlic, onion and meat. And then I added some soy sauce for taste. That was a very simple and quick meal for me. I wonder how this one taste like with the mustard?
