There is something fun about eating food in a pita pocket! You can make this recipe yours by adding your favorite ingredients, or whatever you have in your refrigerator. That’s what we love about this recipe, you can customize it any way you want and still have a delicious and filling lunch for your LO’s going to school. If you’re looking to take this recipe to the next level, try making your own pickled onions or sauer beets to add to your BurgerFit Pita Pocket!

Easily make the BurgerFit Pita Pocket dairy-free by omitting the cheese, and gluten-free by using a gluten-free pita.

Trying to get kids to eat vegetables can be really difficult and that is why I love that this burger is blended with mushrooms and spinach. Mushrooms are such a great vegetable to blend with ground meat since they can easily take on the flavor of the meat. Kids (and picky adults) won’t even know they are eating vegetables and they will be loving it! Using sprouts can also be a win for getting a kid to eat vegetables. A sprout is a lot less intimidating to try than a whole vegetable. Sprouts are cute and fun and they make kids curious. Plus, sprouts have such a concentrated amount of nutrients that you don’t have to worry about your kids not getting their vitamins and minerals – a small portion of sprouts will have them covered!

BurgerFit burgers don’t have to be made with ground beef, it can easily be substituted with your favorite type of ground meat like ground chicken, pork, and turkey.

I love all things spicy and love using the Koops’ Spicy Brown Mustard with the Spicy Sprout Mix from SunGarden. If you aren’t a spice fan, you can experiment with any of the Koops’ Mustards and SunGarden sprouts!

This recipe doesn’t just have to be for your kids going off to school! This is a go-to at my house for the whole family! If I don’t want to eat a pita pocket, I’ll just toss all the ingredients over a bed of greens with sprouts and mustard on top. I usually don’t even use a salad dressing and use the mustard as if it were one. If I decide I want a little dressing, I’ll usually whip up one of my favorite ones. Do whatever works for your family!

Any BurgerFit burgers would be delicious in this! Here are a few of my favorites that I think would be great for this recipe:

How We Met

BurgerFit and SunGarden met through mutual connections in the same town where BurgerFit is headquartered. Both companies immediately connected through helping people eating healthier. Sprouts are a perfect, simple addition to any mal and we love how well they go with BurgerFit.

Nothing taste better than a homemade pita pocket. Absolutely delicious!!! The process of making this is very easy and simple and the ingredients are very few. If you are like me who loves cucumber and cherry tomatoes, I suggest you add them too for more flavor and nutrients.
