My husband once told me that everything tastes better in a tortilla and it’s true! Over the years, I’ve extended this concept to include pita pockets as well – they are easy and fun and so versatile. This gluten-free BurgerFit Mediterranean Pocket is a BurgerFit Favorite – it’s one of my husband’s favorites as well as my Marketing Director’s favorite recipes! You may even get a picky eater to eat some veggies that you carefully tuck inside. It definitely works for Fletcher! Seriously, this is a recipe that everyone in the family can enjoy or can be modified so everyone can enjoy!
Even though I used the Koops’ Stone Ground Mustard in this recipe, you can experiment with any of the Koops’ Mustards! Some other ones that I think would be great in this recipe are:
  1. Spicy Brown Koops’ Mustard
  2. Arizona Heat Koops’ Mustard
  3. Dijon Koops’ Mustard
  4. Honey Dijon Koops’ Mustard
Any of our BurgerFit burgers would taste amazing in this pita pocket and you could even change the overall flavor of it depending on what burger you use! A few of my favorite BurgerFit burger recipes that would be super tasty in this recipe are:

  3. Sweet Potato & Rosemary Burger
  4. Zucchini Pesto Burger
  5. Kohlrabi Burger

Mediterranean Pocket

I love the versatility of this recipe and how you can easily tuck ingredients into the pocket to go unnoticed by picky eaters! You can completely change the flavor of this recipe depending on what you have. Swap out the lettuce for spinach or kale, the hummus for an herb goat cheese or pesto, the onion and tomatoes for carrots and radishes. Get creative and have fun with the pita pocket!

  • 1 BurgerFit burger cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 tbsp hummus
  • ½ pita
  • 1 cup lettuce
  • ¼ cup tomato diced
  • cup diced red onion or try pickled onions
  • cup Koops' Stone Ground Mustard
  • feta cheese sprinkle to taste


  • Heat BurgerFit burger in skillet, microwave, or by desired method.
  • While the burger is heating up, spread 1 tbsp of hummus on the inside of ½ of a pita.
  • Mix the lettuce, tomato, red onion, deconstructed BurgerFit burger, and kimchi (if desired) in a bowl until combined. 
  • Add to pita pocket.
  • Sprinkle feta cheese on top.


  1. Make it dairy-free by omitting the cheese
  2. Make it gluten-free by using a gluten-free pita pocket
  3. Give it an extra kick by topping this dish with hot sauce! Try our firecracker hot sauce!
