The perfect recipe for your little Valentine

healthy kid-friendly valentine's day dinner

Staying home for Valentine’s Day dinner this year? This is a fun, easy, healthy, kid-friendly Valentine’s Day dinner to make using heart-shaped cookie cutters, Koops’ mustard, and BurgerFit burgers! We love making the BurgerFit burgers slider size so that they easily fit on the heart-shaped bread.

When starting out getting your kids helping in the kitchen, start small. Don’t stress over creating big elaborate meals or expecting a lot of engagement from your kids at first. That will come with time! This Valentine’s Day meal is a great way to incorporate kids in the kitchen whether they are regulars in there or they’re just starting out. Kids will love using the cookie cutters that this meal calls for! Fletcher has helped open my mind to the possibilities of cookie cutters. I used to only think of them as tools to use when making cookies but he loves using them all the time when we are cooking. It has been a great way to continuously keep him excited about fixing meals together.

It doesn’t matter what type of Koops’ Mustard you have, use your favorite(s) to make the heart outline on the bread! If you don’t have Koops’ you’ll want to use a mustard in a squirt bottle and not from a jar. We used the Koops’ Original Yellow Mustard in this recipe! My favorite Koops’ Mustard is the Arizona Heat.

BurgerFit burgers are blended ground meat and veggie burgers. They are perfect for getting picky kids to eat vegetables in a way that they love, burgers! It will also make your Valentine’s dinner extra special because you won’t be fighting with your kids to eat their vegetables! They will be gobbling them up in their burger and you’ll feel like mom of the year.

If you can, get your kids to help you make the BurgerFit burgers! Chopping vegetables with a plastic kids knife, mixing the ground meat and veggies, or making the slider patties are all ways your kids can help you prepare the meal! Fletcher will sometimes even help flip the burgers on the stove (disclaimer: I am always right next to him to assist)!

My kids love to help me a lot in the kitchen and I feel like they are going to love this activity. I also ordered my very first set of Koops’ Mustard and I can’t wait for them to arrive.
